ALASKA STATE OPTOMETRY CE REQUIREMENTS

The current two-year license period expires 12/31/12.

Every applicant must:

  • Pay the appropriate renewal fee
  • Document at least 36 contact hours of CE in the following areas:
    • 24 contact hours of ocular pathology or pharmacology
    • No more than 3 practice management hours
    • No more than 9 correspondence hours

TPA endorsement holders must also:

  • successfully complete, in the four-year period immediately before the date of application for renewal of the endorsement:
    • 8 contact hours of ocular pharmacology
    • 7 contact hours of ocular pharmaceutical injection

CE can be obtained from:

  • The American Optometric Association & affiliates
  • Recognized schools or colleges of optometry
  • Postgraduate correspondence courses (up to 9 hours)
  • COPE-approved courses
  • Other courses not listed may be approved by the board upon request
