ALASKA STATE OPTOMETRY CE REQUIREMENTS

The current two-year license period expires 12/31/12.
Every applicant must:
- Pay the appropriate renewal fee
- Document at least 36 contact hours of CE
in the following areas:
- 24 contact hours of ocular pathology or pharmacology
- No more than 3 practice management hours
- No more than 9 correspondence hours
TPA endorsement holders must also:
- successfully complete, in the four-year period immediately before the date of application for renewal of the endorsement:
- 8 contact hours of ocular pharmacology
- 7 contact hours of ocular pharmaceutical injection
CE can be obtained from:
- The American Optometric Association & affiliates
- Recognized schools or colleges of optometry
- Postgraduate correspondence courses (up to 9 hours)
- COPE-approved courses
- Other courses not listed may be approved by the board upon request
