Legislative Members
The legislature is made up of 40 House of Representative members and 20 Senate members. Representatives are elected for a two-year term and Senators are elected to a four-year term. If you are unsure of who your Representative and Senator are, please contact the AKOA office or click here for a list of legislators in each community.

Contacting your Legislator
Your legislators represent YOU! They use their background, knowledge on the subject at hand, and constituent opinion to form their vote on issues. In order for legislators to take your opinion into account, they must hear from you.
There are multiple ways to contact your legislator:
by phone: Contacting your legislator by phone is, often times, the most effective way. Please click here for a phone list.
by Public Opinion Message (POM): This state system allows you to send a 50-word message to one, some, or all legislators. Click here to be redirected to the POM system.
by Mail: During session, address all legislator mail to:
Legislator Name
Alaska State Legislature 120 4th Street, State Capitol, Room 3 Juneau, AK 99801-1182
by Fax: If you have written a letter and want to get it there fast, fax can be very effective. Please click here for a phone/fax list.
by E-mail: E-mail can fast but can also get lost in the inbox clutter so please use sparingly and with a clear, concise subject line. For instance: Constituent Opinion on SB 181. Each legislator has a standard e-mail address as follows: Senator or Representative_First Name_Last Name@legis.state.ak.us. For instance- Senator_John_Smith@legis.state.ak.us. |
